My 15-month old daughter loves crayons. But they come with certain drawbacks - she eats them, scribbles all over her books and on the walls, breaks them in pieces.
She got Aquadoodle as a Christmas gift, and she loves it. It solves all the problems we had with crayons. I have no complaint about the toy itself.
I do have a complaint about the price I paid. I feel totally ripped off.
You can buy this for half the price at Toys R Us. Almost forty dollars here, only twenty there.
Also, I would recommend you buy the extra Pen and Brush set. If your house is anything like mine, the pen will get lost on a regular basis. Again, I feel like a sucker for paying eight dollars here when it's only five at Target.
What can I say - buyer beware!

Fun for All... but a bit smaller then expectedOct 19, 2010

We ordered one last year and wanted a second this year (two kids... each needed one!). For some reason, this was the same product but was significantly smaller then our first one and only came with one pen. However, this toy is fabulous and my girls have hours of fun (almost 5 and 1 1/2). I highly recommend this toy to anyone!

I got this for my daughter for her 1st Birthday. She loves to draw with it, and because it's water she leaves no marks on the floor or on mom when she goes crazy with her "pen". It is a great way to teach hand/eye coordination as well as fine motor skills.

I went to Toys-R-Us yesterday in search for a gift for my 2 year old nephew's birthday and found this (BTW, its only $19.99 at ToysRUs) and decided it was the perfect gift for him and even though it says ages 2+ I decided to get one for my 15 month old also. I got it home and took it out of the box, laid the mat on the floor, filled the pen with water, and introduced my daughter to it. She instantly loved it!!! She sat on the mat and doodled for almost an hour, giggling the entire time!! It was a blast watching her have so much fun and her little creative wheels starting to turn. The other great thing about this is that I find it to be a great way of introducing her to drawing in a safe way, the "pen" is basically a tube of water with a cotton tip, a safe way for her to learn about pens and markers as I was really worried about two things A) her putting a toxic pen/marker/crayon in her mouth and B) her drawing on things other than paper (walls, floors, etc) this toy eliminates both my concerns and I feel great knowing that she is safe, my house is safe, and she gets to start drawing and being creative at such an early age!!! If you are thinking about getting this toy for your own child or as a gift I strongly recommend it!

We've been through two of these. The writing surface seems to stop working after extended use and the pen turns moldy and gross if you don't dump the water out after each use. Kids will play with it for 20+ minutes at a time, which is pretty impressive. At this price point, I would definitely recommend. Worth the money.
