Fun without the doors.Aug 11, 2010 OK, I have to admit that I was pretty disappointed that the door cam off on the first day / Christmas Day - ugh.
However, after several days of putting the door back on, we just kept them off. It does not diminish the fun of this toy. In fact in some ways it makes it easier to play with. My kids stuff it full of doll house dolls. They drive it all over the house for dollhouse family adventures.
I am sure the easy breakaway doors are to prevent finger piching which would be a big safety problem especially for younger kids.
Fun but poo designJul 17, 2010 My 2 year old twins have fun with the van for the most part. They do get frustrated because it is difficult to get the mom and dad in and out of the front. The mom usually slides underneath the dashboard. When they first got the van they were constantly bringing me the back doors of the van to reattach. I have finally gotten tired of putting the doors back on that it has now become a 2 door van. The little tunes that the van plays are not bad and the horn honks.
Doors Fall Off!Jun 27, 2010 The doors on this car always come off. The little kids can't put them back on and they fall right back off if I put them back on. They still play with it sometimes, but the people fall out the open doorways and it looks junky with pieces broken off.
Minivan is permanently in timeoutJun 22, 2010 I have just taken this toy away from my 4yo for the umpteenth time. She gets so frustrated that the doors pop off so easily. I, in turn, get frustrated, too, because (like another review said) I'm afraid that one of these times the clips that the "hold" the door in will break. I give this toy 2 stars for durability because of the doors - the rest of the cars parts do not move (save for the wheels of course).
It is a great accessory to the dollhouse, but unless you plan to play dollhouse each time your child does (because you'll be fixing the doors every few minutes), I'd spend my money on other room sets. We've never had an issue with any of them!
Lots of fun, if you can put the rear doors back on!Jun 07, 2010 We bought this for our 5 year-old daughter to complement her Loving Family Dollhouse. She's played with it almost every day in the month since she received it. I agree with another reviewer that the rear doors are badly designed & keep coming off. However, once our daughter learned how to replace them herself, it hasn't interfered with her enjoyment of this toy. Right now she's playing with it along with two pals aged 5 & 6, and one of them just asked me if I'd get her one for her birthday next week. Overall, a good buy.
