Great Lego Model for $50Jan 17, 2010 I spent $50 on this a year ago and it's well worth it. It challenged my 5 year old who is, I would say, a master builder for his age. It's delicate when fully assembled and isn't really a model you can play with. But it is so cool on a shelf with the rescue buoy hanging down underneath. And what boy doesn't like helicopters. I got to tell you though, I don't think it's worth $80.
my favorite lego setJan 14, 2010 The lego coast guard helicopter is my favorite lego set I own. It has all this cool stuff. There is a self wind string and a hook. You just hold a button and the string and the hook on it winds up. It has four mini figures, one shark and one coast guard boat. And it was much bigger than I thought it would be. It has two seats and one stretcher. Overall it has good money value. The play value is good too.

Fun to Build but Not to HandleSep 05, 2009 My son is a few month away from being nine. He purchased this with his own money so it was a big deal with lots of Lego looking. He had fun building it but said that during the building process, pressing down on the Legos often led to part of the assembly snapping off, causing many re-builds. In the words of the Wicked Witch of the West "These things have to be handled delicately." Once finished, my son really likes to play and pretend with his Lego toys. They look very realistic and are just begging to be taken off display and actually put to use. The side doors on the helicopter break off almost every time he opens them, but he patiently reconstructs it again and again. The little raft is solid. The winch works great. Overall it was a good buy...it wasn't my money. Like other Lego sets we own, and we own many, they are much more fun to build then they are to use as imaginative toys once built.
MOM OF A LEGO LOVERJan 09, 2009 MY SON JUST LOVES LEGO'S NO MATTER WHAT IT IS AND HE ALSO LOVES THIS ONE SO I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO ANY LEGO LOVER, YOUNG AND OLD.
Coast Guard Chopper to the Rescue!Dec 30, 2008 Great set. Santa found it on sale at for about half this price. The lucky 8 year old boy who received it put it together in a little over two hours by himself on Christmas day. He said the directions were a little confusing and he had to take a few pieces off and relocate them during construction. However he was thrilled with the final result and was happy to see the winch action on the chopper to pull in the guys from the life raft below. This is a great way for kids to learn how objects are assembled and develops great spatial-relationships for kids of all ages. Nice to have a life raft to further the play action/building time. By constructing this toy, he also had more questions about the Coast Guard, which gave us teachable moments when we went to see relatives who live by Lake Erie.
