This product is not priced properly. At the time of this review the tracks were priced three times higher than on LEGO's own website. Caveat Emptor!

We bought this set for my six year-old son for Christmas, and it was one of the best purchases we've ever made for him. The directions were a little complex, but I helped him assemble everything (which was fun for me, anyway!); and he played with it non-stop for days. He especially loved the 7 speeds on the train engine, and the fact that it goes forward or backward at all 7 speeds. One warning - the train tends to fly off the track at high speeds, unless you have extra tracks to put in to make the curves less sharp. My son actually loved to make the train fly off, but it tends to break apart a bit when this happens (which is just the nature of Legos, no big deal). All in all, this was his best Christmas gift and I loved watching him play with it.

Gave this to my grandson for Christmas and he loves it. Even dad loves it. Went together easy with other tracks and trains. Well made as Legos usually are.

I assumed that this switch track set would be all we need to make a track with the pieces we arlready have (15 curves and 4 straights plus this kit containing 4 more curves and two switch tracks.) We found that there was no way to connect a track using these switch tracks. The directions that came with the switch tracks show what other kits are needed to make a comeplete track, but this information was not listed when I ordered the product. Thus my son's birthday gift has turned into more than double the price since I needed to buy the extra pieces needed to go with it. Other than that, I think the product itself is fine. The 3 star rating is because of the lack of information, not because of the quality of the product.

It's very cool to be able to switch tracks but without the other track pack, you can't make these and the tracks that come with the trains connect.
