Excellent Product From LegoJun 27, 2010 This train is so great. It goes fast if you want it to. It stays on the track very well. I recently changed my track from a race-like track to a cruvy, twisty track. I can still go fast, and the cars do not fall over. They can handle speed well. The station included is nice, but the big yellow one is better. It is good to buy extra track because an oval can get boring very quickly, but this is only a starter set. The remote is great as well. I am glad Lego came out with a train that is much more affordable than the 9v sets. With the 9v, the only pro that I can see is not having to change any batteries. But, the speed regulator must stay in one location, unless you want to move it to another piece of track. But then you have to worry about the wires. Thew 9v is good for someone who has a huge train layout, but still the RC can be just as good, or better. With the RC trains, there is a wireless remote, and the train tracks are less expensive because they do not conduct electricity. Rechargeable batteries are a good money-saving option. I have Energizer batteries. The train is quiet, but not too quiet. With the RC trains, you can expand your railroad much less expensively.
My son loves this train!Feb 08, 2010 If your child loves trains, this one is worth the $$$'s. It is easy to assemble but time consuming. Do purchase extra tracks along with it, switching tracks and at least 3 sets of straight and curved rails. Amazon doesn't carry the straight and curved rails but they are available at [...].
Train Lover's DelightJan 31, 2010 My 7-year old son loves trains. The LEGO City Train Starter set was a wonderful Christmas present from his grandparents. He quickly set to work in constructing the train and then put the track up around the Christmas tree in his room. Overall he is a very satisfied little boy.
Lego TrainJan 07, 2010 My 8 year old grandson got this set for Christmas. He was so excited. He put it together in about 2 hours and had it running the rest of the day. He explained, in detail, to his 4 year old brother how every part worked and why it did everything it did. He followed the instruction book, page by page, and had no trouble getting everything correctly together. I think it is a great toy and a good teaching tool for the mechanically minded child and of course a must for every "train finatic"!!! Good choice Santa!!!!
Great model trainDec 30, 2009 We got this train for our 6 year old for christmas. He had the whole thing assembled and running in just a few hours. It's very durable and very realistic. It works just like his grandfather's real model trains.
