One of the best lego setsSep 25, 2009

My eight year old daughter and her father have spent a lot of time with this set during the summer. First, they built the ferry, per instructions, which also has a nice car and trailer. Then they built an impressively realistic Deadliest-Catch-like crab boat and have made other fun lego things never envisioned by the Lego designer.
Putting it together per the instructions is like a 3 dimensional jigsaw puzzle. Reassembling it your own way gives plenty of creativity. There are enough pieces here that if this was the only Lego set you had, you could still have hours and hours and hours of fun making your own creations and not feel immediately frustrated that you needed more pieces. The variety of different blocks is excellent.
And the ferry itself is a very cool toy. Working ramps, a car and trailer to go up the ramps, then sail around: it's just fun. It's also detailed and plain fun to look at.
I hope there will be more Creator sets of this scope.

I am over thirty and got this as a birth day present.
Great kit! The ferry itself is quite complex model and fun to build .What is great of this kit and why i would recommend it for parents is that it has such a great variety (and amount) of generic lego pieces. Some modern kits have parts that serve only one function - this one has all kinds of stuff (wheels, windows, antennas, swivels of all kinds and bunch of basic bits).
You could build great variety of things from this set.
I would have loved this one as a kid. eh and still do...

We take a ferry boat to get to our summer home. This toy is true to life and really makes a solid connection with my children. They play with it often. I even made ferry passes out of card stock and gave them a hole punch. Now I am just waiting for them to start charging me real money :)...Great investment for lego lovers b/c it converts into several designs when they get bored with it...which they never do!! I just wish it was a little more sturdy. The front gate doesn't lock as tight as I want it too. The kids don't mind at all though...

Fun toy, easy to assemble. Some pieces come off easy. But they are easy to put back. My 9 year old loves it and my 14 year old.
