5Same price as lego store and free shipping!!!Aug 21, 2009
By I. Inman "Farmer Ike"
Wow same price as lego and prime shipping!!!

The reviewer above must not have noticed this is the exact same price as lego store and with free shipping. I will say 2 sets are available here and 1 is [...]$ higher but this isn't it!! great price and great shipping!

Not to mention one of the best sets lego has ever made, it would be worth [...]$ more for the value of play!! From the blacksmith to the stabels to the market! this set is awesome! Definetely going to be worth about 3-4 times purchase price in about 10 years!! great for collecting.

You get a big tree!! 2 cows, 2 chickens, 1 duck, a horse, a carront, a frog, a whole cooked turkey not just it's legs!! apples, flowers, fish!!, a rat, a hairbrush, a bed a dresser, a stove, a fireplace a treasure chest!!

This is one massive set really great! It is not in numbered bags, some will love that, some like me won't!! 1601+ extra pieces and no numbered bags!! Ok it was kinda fun sifting for hours through a mountian of bricks saying, they didn't give me that piece!! Only to find 1 hour later they did YAHHHHHY!!!!

I like that the houses can be displayed open or closed!! The waterwheel on the blacksmiths shop actually drives a hammer on the inside!! That inturn hits a sword on a forge!! really cool!

All in all this is a really cool set, with a little imagination it can be the center of your castle set universe!! I have it on baseplates for display with the king riding by from the castle on his battle chariot, some dwarfs buying flowers at the market!! some dwarfs and knights getting weapons from the blacksmith An Indian riding bareback on his painted steed!! not castle but cool. Some soldiers enjoying some turkey and cheese! with whine straight from the lego barrel included with tap!!

Yeah I can't see anything but 5 stars for this set!! Great Price Free 2day shipping!! Thank you Amazon!!!

5The Devil is in the DetailApr 17, 2011

Holy COW!!! there are a lot of tiny parts here. and a lot more then just mini FIGURES. there are ducks and roosters and a couple ox and a horse. they pretty much thought of everything for a village with a market square. this looks a lot like a smaller version of my home town farmers market.

there is a blacksmith here too to make the weapons to sell to the guards. a working water wheel to help the smithy

and in the center of town is a giant tree!!!

they have thought of everything here, right down to the posies, and carrots to feed the horse.

there is more color here then the grand carrosel and it is more durable then it too.

this isn't QUITE my favorite lego set (the imperial flagship) but it is up there in the top five. i will have to look into more of the castle sets

5Biggest lego set I have purchased so farSep 22, 2010
By Robin
My son got this for his 9th birthday. He is a huge lego fan and this is the biggest set I have purchased for him so far. It took him about 6 hours to build this one and he is really proud of it. He says it has the best accessories ever, he is really into all of the special little pieces always included with the lego sets. Definitely a good purchase for the money and it arrived just in time.

5My Favorite Lego setApr 24, 2011

Buy this before it disappears. This set is so nice. The buildings have a very nice style and there are so many extras to make the display very entertaining. I loved it so much, I bought a 2nd one. I ordered some red pieces from Bricklink so I could build the blue building as a dark red building.
The bags are not numbered, so you will need to take some time sorting them before you start building, but I always enjoy that part. It is nice to appreciate the unique pieces before they become part of the build.
Each of the buildings opens up so you can display them closed for a more compact display or open for a more spread out display. And ... lots of different mini figures.
This is an older Lego set, so if you are on the fence, do not think about it too long ... you may lose your chance at a great set with lots of pieces for such a value.

4A Mixed BagJan 14, 2010
By Austin Smith "Comic book extrordinar and Toy collector"
I received this as a Christmas present because I've always been a fan of the Lego Castle sets, at one time owning many of the original "Knights" sets and Lego-women and men figurines. But as a little tyke, I threw my toys around and usually separated pieces from sets and combined them with others to make godless monstrosities that I'd play with in the bath tub. And then I just flat out lost most of those sets because I was very irresponsible at the age of 7. Now as a 22-year-old man-child, I can appreciate great Lego sets, like the Star Wars Death Star, to name one.

This set was comprised of many small pieces, separated by size, which left it confusing to search for the right piece among building pieces from different instructions. I started on book one, and most of the pieces it asked for were in bags with pieces for book two, which left me searching for one specific piece for uhh..maybe? an hour! I finally had to organize pieces by color and shape (4+ long blocks, red in this pile, 3-2 block pieces, red, and many other colors-following, these separate piles) until I was able to really start on the construction. I guess I'm spoiled by the Lego sets that come organized by what section of the whole construction you are doing (numbering on the bags) where only these pieces from this portion of the construction are in this bag and as follows. A little discourteous that Lego can't follow one piece-organization technique...

This set is very durable on the upside, just as long as you're handling the final product. The individual bags and combination of pieces in these bags were a nuisance. I, was thankfully, able to transport the final product down to my basement without it falling apart, so the buildings and mercantile stands all have a sturdy design. And the set finished looks extraordinary as a set piece for a room or various other methods for display. You also get quite a few limited edition characters, like the squire and the two lovely lady figurines. Even livestock like chickens, a crow - which isn't livestock, neither is the chickens - and cows! Overall a great set, just a hassle to put together, even so more than the kingdom set.
